ISLAMIC EDUCATION
Primary
IEOSA’S SYSTEM OF EDUCATION
The Organisation is responsible for the research and development of syllabi, course design, conducting Teacher Training programs, and the publishing of Teachers’ Manuals and learners’ textbooks. It further ensures the correct implementation of the above, through a system of regular supervision and inspections.
MONITORING & CO-ORDINATION OF MADAARIS
An important aspect of IEOSA’s services is the provision of supervision / inspection of Madaaris. The Advisors “evaluate” and “assist” teachers in their preparation and presentation of the lessons. This means that the Advisors evaluate not only the teachers’ performance but also their own research output (syllabi, textbooks and manuals) under working or classroom conditions – whether they are suitable or require amendments. This then leads them to identify the problem area and focus on their amendments accordingly.
When the advisors visit the affiliate Madaaris, they also ensure that the guidelines are followed in terms of the methodology and educational psychology and monitor the progress of the learners.
Secondary
Since its inception, IEOSA has been concerned about the lack of any formal Islamic education imparted to male and female learners in the secondary phase of schooling, i.e. 13 – 18 years age group. After much consultation with secondary-school teachers, parents and other qualified personnel, a secondary-school Islamic education programme was designed. The focus in this curriculum is to prepare the student to meet the challenges facing the youth. Hence the curriculum covers such topics as adolescence, boy-girl relationships, drugs, extra and pre-marital issues, etc. This programme is being implemented in several Madaaris at present.
Learner Examinations
IEOSA undertakes the responsibility of setting and conducting bi-annual examinations, after which it provides comprehensive reports to parents, teachers and affiliate societies.
