Tuberculosis (TB)

Although the Trust has concerned itself primarily with the upliftment of Education,   it has made significant contributions to other areas of community life as well!

In 1951, the Trust donated land to The Friends of the Sick Association for TB patients.  It also built the A.M. Lockhat Medical Clinic in Kwa Nyuswa, in the rural areas of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

TB HOSPITAL

The Hajee A.M. Lockhat Wakuff was instrumental in assisting “The Friends of the Sick Association” (FOSA) to establish a TB hospital for the under privileged at Newlands, North of the Umgeni River.  The hospital provides a much needed facility to the surrounding areas.

Emergency Relief

The Trust worked closely with the then Premier of KZN, Mr S’ibusiso Ndbele & the Ethekwini Municipality & Disaster relief to provide emergency relief & temporary shelter for the families whose homes were destroyed by the fire in an informal settlement.  Meals, clothing, blankets & basic necessities were provided to the families.  In addition, the Trust also provided land to put up temporary shelters for the disaster victims.
